Beginning & Intermediate Wheel MON AM

This class is designed for the beginner and intermediate levels.  Focus will be on beginning wheel throwing techniques such as centering, opening, pulling, shaping, trimming, and finishing, as well as five glaze applications. Once students feel they're ready, intermediate level projects will include, but not be limited to, decorative projects such as dinnerware, teapots, wall hangings, lidded jars, casseroles, clocks, lamps, etc.  Clay will be provided as needed, up to 50 lbs. along with open studio time. Ages 16 and up.

Intermediate | Advanced Wheel Throwing TUE AM
This class combines fun, practical knowledge, and a concise approach to pottery making on the wheel. We will cover a large number of thrown forms and a variety of ways to decorate and enhance them, including carving, faceting, altering, and assembling. We will cover different types of lids and spouts, along with slips and glazing. Students will also have the opportunity to create their own handmade tools. Prior experience required. Clay will be provided as needed, up to 50 lbs. along with open studio time.

Saturday AM Clay & Coffee

What better way to start the weekend than with a cup of coffee and clay? Intermediate and advanced students will learn a variety of skills for both wheel throwing and hand building.  Demos will vary depending on the interest of students. Class projects will be student-driven. Clay will be provided as needed, up to 50 lbs., along with open studio time.  Ages 16 and up.

Students will learn to use hand/eye coordination, pressure and speed, while working with clay on the wheel. You will be taught clay preparation, 3 easy steps to centering, the basic elements of throwing, and 5 glaze application techniques. Intermediate | Advanced Ceramics TUE PM 
This class will explore various decorating techniques such as carving, faceting, and image transfer.  We’ll explore altering and assembling techniques and experiment with slips and stains. We’ll practice throwing off the hump and work on projects such as lidded vessels, various vases and bowls, and try our hand at throwing large forms on the wheel. Glazing techniques will also be explored such as multi-layering, stone glazing, bubble glazing, and more. Raku firings will be available upon request.
Clay will be provided as needed, up to 50 lbs. along with open studio time. Ages 16 and up. Prior experience required.

Pottery Wheel Trial Lesson

We are offering a two-hour pottery experience on the potter's wheel. This session will introduce you to the basic skills of working with clay on the potter’s wheel through demonstrations and the help you need to guide you through this hands-on experience. The lesson will include all the tools and clay you will need. No previous experience is required. At the end of the session you can choose the glaze of your choice and the MAC will complete your pieces and let you know when they're ready for pickup. Ages 16 and up.

Exploring Raku & Other Firing Techniques - WED PM

Are you ready to expand your creative horizons and have your objects change, develop, morph and transform? 

In this class, we will be exploring several types of Raku firing. You will learn different surface treatments such as horsehair, feathers, naked raku, saggar firing, ferric chloride surface treatments, and other bare clay techniques. 

Students will also have the option of working on conventional wheel and handbuilt projects. 

Clay will be provided as needed, up to 50 lbs. along with open studio time. Ages 16 and up.

Jewelry

Beginning Jewelry

Students will learn basic jewelry-making techniques. Some of the skills covered will be making jump rings and assembling them, making clasps, piercing, sawing, filing, sanding, buffing, patina, soldering and rivets. In class, we will make a wire-wrapped bangle, pin, pierced pendant, sweat-soldered pendant or keychain, rivet piece, and chainmaille earrings. Copper and brass materials to complete class projects are provided. After the class project is completed, other materials will be available for purchase. Seating is limited to 8 so register early!

Intermediate Jewelry

Building on previous techniques, students will be making wire-wrapped beads for pendant earrings, wire-wrapped pendent, stone set ring, and a rivet ring with tube or regular rivets.
